Choosing a travel towel by drying and size
A travel towel is useful when your accommodation does not supply one or when you need your own elsewhere. Size, feel and drying should be considered together.

Define the intended use
Drying your hands requires a different area from drying after a shower. Fold an existing towel to the proposed dimensions and check whether that area is enough. This avoids choosing solely from a size label. A very small model saves space but may fail its purpose if it will be your only shower towel.
Feel the fabric if possible. Thin smooth materials work differently from bulky terry cloth and do not appeal to everyone. Check whether the maker gives particular first-wash instructions. For a beach or pool visit, space to lie on and contact with sand may also matter. Those needs differ from a towel used in a cramped hostel bathroom.
First establish whether towels are included at your accommodation and whether they may be taken outside. An extra purchase should not substitute for missing information. If a suitable towel is already provided, the saved weight and packing space can be used elsewhere.
Build drying into the routine
Compact packing is of little benefit if the towel goes into its pouch wet on departure day. Consider where it can hang spread out after its final use. A hanging loop helps attach it but does not replace airflow across the surface. A folded towel dries differently from a freely hanging one even when both use the same fabric.
Use a transport pouch for a damp towel only temporarily, then remove it at the next suitable opportunity. Keep it separate from clean clothes until then. A mesh bag allows air through but does not protect neighbouring items against moisture. An enclosed cover may contain moisture while also preventing free drying.
After the trip, follow the actual care instructions for temperature, detergent and drying. Then consider how often the towel was genuinely useful. Someone needing only an occasional small reserve does not automatically need the largest version available. What matters remains the area you use and the drying space available to you.
